Why August conditions suit exterior work
Exterior paint cares about two things: how warm the surface is and how quickly moisture leaves it. Spring around here rarely cooperates on either count, and mid-summer brings the humidity. By August the pattern tends to even out — mornings dry off sooner, afternoons stay warm without being punishing, and there is enough daylight to prep a section and coat it the same day.
That last part matters more than most people expect. When prep and paint happen in the same stretch of dry weather, the surface stays clean between the two. A wall that gets washed and then rained on before it is coated has to be dealt with all over again.
The prep is still the job

It is worth walking your own house before the season turns. Look at south and west walls first, since those take the most sun, then check the trim above windows and any spot where a downspout runs close to the siding.
